It is Dr. Vito Quatela’s quest to improve people’s lives by aesthetically enhancing their appearance and increasing their confidence and self assurance. His facial plastic surgery practice includes his goal of helping those who suffer from hair loss. He is sympathetic to both men and women who find hair loss to be a disruptive burden in their lives and he is dedicated to educating others on hair transplant procedures and its benefits.
As the Medical Director of The Quatela Center for Hair Restoration in Rochester, New York, Dr. Vito Quatela has treated thousands of men and women for hair loss and has implanted over one million hair grafts. He is known for his creativity and accomplishments in hair restoration. With 18 years of hair restoration experience, Dr. Quatela and his staff excel in microscopically controlled follicular unit transplantation. Dr. Quatela is Board Certified by the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery and an active member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgeons (ISHRS) and the American Hair Loss Council.
Dr. Quatela contributes frequently to medical literature including book chapters,
journal articles and national scientific publications. He is an active member
and participates in National Advisories; Health Councils; and Research Review
committees. His expertise is sought after for consultation support at many
Universities, as well as, health and science agencies. Dr. Quatela is often
featured on local and national television and has been a speaker on MSNBC.
He is amongst the top physicians in his field and is listed in “Who's Who, Best Doctors in North America”.
Dr. Quatela has helped innovate and pioneer many of the most advanced artistic and scientific techniques in facial plastic surgery today including the midfacelift and endoscopic browlift. Dr. Quatela utilizes the endoscopic forehead lift in men to improve upper face aesthetics by repositioning brows without the need to excise any additional hair.
An important aspect of hair transplantation is the precise placement of hair
follicles to allow for a natural looking hair pattern in as little as one treatment.
Dr. Quatela’s philosophy is that with proper planning and good aesthetic placement,
a natural life-long result can be experienced with the first treatment. In
addition to follicular unit micrografting (hair transplantation), Dr. Quatela
offers scalp reduction (to minimize the size of bald areas), scar management
and revision from prior procedures, and aesthetic correction of results from
old hair plugs and previous outdated techniques.
Dr. Quatela shares his hair restoration knowledge and experience through his role as Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Rochester, where his career began. After graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Rochester, Dr. Quatela completed medical school at Northwestern University in Chicago. He completed a surgical residency at the Medical Center of Vermont and an otolaryngology residency at Northwestern University. The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery awarded him Fellowships at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana and Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and is an AAFPRS Fellowship Preceptor entrusted with training future hair restoration surgeons.
Dr. Quatela’s philosophy that “every human being has a fundamental right to the opportunity to grow and develop socially & intellectually without being ostracized or rejected due to physical abnormality” has
led him to offer his services to underprivileged in other countries. His commitment
to helping others extends to his humanitarian efforts in heading a multi-specialty
team of experts on an annual medical mission to Ecuador to provide medical
care to children and adolescents suffering from deformity or conditions remedied
or alleviated through plastic surgery. Through the labors of he and his medical
team members, children are provided the opportunity to develop into strong,
secure and responsible human beings free from their congenital and other conditions.
With a deep commitment to family and tradition, Dr. Quatela resides with his
wife and three children in Rochester, NY. Calling Rochester "home" for nearly
40 years, Dr. and Mrs. Quatela feel blessed to raise their children surrounded
by the love of nearby extended family.
