For
some two decades, Dr. Bernard Nusbaum has used his talents and skills
to enhance the way people feel about themselves. Trained as a dermatologist,
he discovered early in his career that many of his patients suffering
from hair loss found it very difficult to cope. Their lives were
disrupted, relationships affected, in some cases, careers threatened.
In 1980, he recognized the potential of hair transplants and started
experimenting in this area. He quickly came to understand the aesthetic
sensitivity and skill needed to perform these procedures. By 1985,
he was specializing in hair transplant surgery and has since performed
over 10,000 transplant procedures. Dr. Nusbaum is among a select group of physicians
whose practice is limited exclusively to hair restoration.
He is a member of the American Hair Loss Council, the American
Academy of Cosmetic Surgeons and the International Society
of Hair Restoration Surgery, where he serves on the Ethics
committee. Dr. Nusbaum is a Diplomate of the American Board
of Dermatology and is one of the first 30 physicians in the
United States to be certified by the American Board of Hair
Restoration Surgery, in which he has been appointed to the
Board of Directors. His critical opinions on hair transplantation
techniques and hair loss diagnosis frequently appear in the
medical literature.
Specializing in the Follicular Unit Transplantation technique,
he demonstrated this procedure on a Discovery Channel Special.
Dr. Nusbaum is known for his artistic sense and perfectionist
nature. He prides himself in working closely with each patient
to establish a relationship of trust, understanding and confidence
with the purpose of enhancing each individual’s appearance
and self-esteem.
